Dr. Maren Kaliske

Senior Analyst

Maren has over 5 years of experience in applying advanced econometric techniques and economic theory in a variety of sectors and projects. As an empirical economist she has extensive experience in data analysis applying various microeconometric methods including event study designs and difference-in-differences estimators to causal inference. Maren has handled large firm-level datasets, conducting comprehensive analyses of market structures and competitive behaviors to better understand market dynamics, strategies and outcomes. Her expertise includes the implementation of structural models and in-depth data analysis, skills that are often decisive in regulatory and competition law cases. Maren has particular expertise in the energy sector, providing her with valuable insights into the different regulatory frameworks and competitive structures.

After her PhD, Maren served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair for New Economic Geography and East Asia at the University of Duisburg-Essen, where she was responsible for several research projects in addition to her teaching duties in economics.

Maren has published in several well-recognized academic journals, including in Economics Letters, with work focusing on intra-EU trade dynamics. She also presented her research at various international conferences including at the European Economic Association.

Maren holds a PhD in Economics from the Technical University of Dortmund, a Master's degree in Economics from Trinity College Dublin and a Bachelor's degree in Politics and Economics from the University of Münster

A native German speaker, she is also fluent in English and has basic knowledge of Spanish and French.
