Dr. Simon Block
Senior Analyst
Simon has multiple years of experience applying advanced methods from economic theory and game theory to topics in competition economics and adjacent fields. He has particular expertise in innovation economics and auction theory.
Prior to joining ABC economics, Simon worked as a Junior Researcher at the DFG cluster of excellence ECONtribute Markets & Public Policy. He has presented his research at various conferences such as the European summer meeting of the Econometric Society (ESME), the annual meeting of the Verein für Socialpolitik (VfS), and the RGS doctoral conference.
Simon is an experienced communicator of economic concepts. As a teaching fellow at Yale University, he taught sections in intermediate microeconomics and mathematical game theory. At the University of Bonn, he taught a variety of courses in microeconomics and mathematical methods as an instructor and as a teaching assistant.
Simon has a Ph.D. from the University of Bonn, where he previously also completed a M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Economics. During his Ph.D. he spent one year as a visiting researcher at Yale University; during his B.Sc. studies, he spent a semester studying at the Toulouse School of Economics.
Simon is a native German speaker and fluent in English and Italian.
