Florian Schimmel

Analyst

Florian has several years of experience in handling large panel datasets and applying advanced econometric techniques.

He has gained hands-on experience in the application of economic theory to real-world regulatory contexts and the communication of economic insights to legal and policy audiences. During his tenure at the European Commission’s DG COMP, he contributed to state aid enforcement by conducting economic analyses of bidding schemes. Florian also worked as a researcher at the Institute for European Policymaking at Bocconi University, where he conducted micro-econometric analyses by using dynamic panel estimation methods.

Florian holds a Master’s degree in Economic and Social Sciences from Bocconi University, where he graduated cum laude with a game-theoretical thesis on infrastructure competition. He also holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Groningen.

A native German speaker, he is fluent in English and has basic knowledge of Italian.
