About ABC

ABC supports clients seeking expert economic advice in competition or regulatory matters, whether in the context of (international) arbitration or litigation cases or in front of competition authorities or regulatory bodies.

Our economic analyses and expertise provide decisive value to our clients.

Making a difference for our clients

We have written over 250 expert reports on over 120 projects ranging across the full spectrum of competition and regulatory work in the last 7 years. Combined with our academic credentials, this provides for a solid foundation for preparing pertinent, rigorous, evidence-based economic and econometric analyses, tailored to the specific needs of our clients, and delivered in an accessible and comprehensible fashion. We combine this solid track record as economic consultants with insights gained at international organizations such as the OECD, regulatory bodies and competition authorities such as the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission. The insights we gained into the inner workings and approaches adopted by competition authorities and regulators from within and as consultants from the outside are a key benefit for our clients.

The combination of experience and state of the art economic expert knowledge allows us to effectively engage and interact with competition authorities, regulators, courts and tribunals in the interest of our clients. Through our publications we have also taken a leadership role in a large number of relevant policy discussions.

We offer full economic and econometric support in competition and regulatory matters, arbitrations and in any other circumstance where sound economic analysis and support could be relevant and of added value to clients. We do so by preparing clear and relevant economic and econometric analyses, expert reports, presentations, and expert testimony in support of our clients.

Our philosophy

Our success rests on the firm belief that effective economic consulting results from a combination of a profound understanding and knowledge of economic concepts and methods with a detailed knowledge of the factual, legal and regulatory context within which economic questions arise and are analysed. We view ourselves as providing a bridge between academia and applied economics and are actively involved in policy discussions and in stimulating the academic debate. Our economists regularly publish in highly reputed policy and scientific journals.

Our method

Economic and econometric evidence, notably in complex matters, can only be effective and achieve its intended purpose if it is presented in an accessible and comprehensible fashion. We work in close partnership with our clients and their legal advisors to ensure that the economics are well-integrated into the overall assessment of the case and can thereby achieve maximum effect.

While we pride ourselves on providing state of the art economic and econometric analysis, we are committed to providing effective support to our clients. This requires not only a deep understanding of the relevant and often sophisticated economic and econometric techniques, but the willingness and ability to make these analyses “stick” in the context within which they are advanced.

Our work makes a difference to our clients because we deliver our findings in a clear and effective manner, no matter whether in form of a report, a presentation, or orally in front of an authority, tribunal, or court. Economic evidence, in particular evidence resulting from more sophisticated and complex analyses, requires an intuitive presentation. Our work is always presented in a clear, compelling, and credible way, reflecting the relevant context, and creating a coherent overall picture of the case at hand.
