ABC philosophy

We are a team of highly skilled and dedicated economists who enjoy working as professional economists on often highly visible and high stakes cases and projects. We are united by our interest in putting theoretical and econometric tools to practical use, thereby influencing large and often highly demanding matters. We see ourselves as providing a vital link between economic research at the highest level and the application of this knowledge to competition and regulatory cases in an intuitive way ensuring that the economics are understood. We maintain close ties to academia as we believe that success in providing economic expert support goes hand in hand with a continued interest in economic research just as with staying up to date on and influencing policy debates. We also believe that academic research can benefit from the experiences gained when applying economics in the real world. As a result, all of our more experienced economists will have spoken and presented at numerous conferences and published relevant work.

We offer a highly stimulating and rewarding environment, but we also have high expectations regarding work. We strongly believe in fostering individual skills and will help build and develop individual careers.

Our clients place a lot of trust in our economic expertise and rightfully expect us to work professionally and to the highest economic standards. The matters we are working on are of great importance to our clients. We can only succeed in meeting our own expectations in providing the highest quality support and service based on a collaborative approach. Mutual support, dedication and a high motivation of all members of the team are the ingredients to a great office environment, but also to the successful completion of often demanding and complex work.

Ensuring the highest quality of output and service is only possible if there is an alignment of the personal development goals of the individuals making up the team and the overall interest of the team and ABC economics. We help our economists flourish professionally by allowing them to take on responsibility early on and gain experience in the direct interaction with clients, legal advisors, regulators and competition authorities.

If you are willing to dedicate yourself and seize the opportunities you will be presented with, you will progress rapidly. Working together with other highly educated, bright and motivated economists makes for a stimulating and productive, but also very open work environment. As we do get to work on complex and fascinating economic matters our work should be a lot of fun and highly enjoyable at least the large majority of the time.

The perfect candidate

We are interested in hiring economists and econometricians with excellent credentials from leading universities, who have the mindset to succeed in an intellectually challenging, rigorous and demanding professional environment.

Starting at ABC

Starting at ABC means joining a team of highly skilled professionals who are proud of their achievements. From the beginning you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects in different industries. In addition, you will be in contact with our clients, their legal and other advisors, but also with regulators or staff from competition authorities right from the start. Helped and supported by your colleagues, internal trainings and seminars, your responsibilities will rapidly develop and grow. The entire team will support you along your path and you will soon also be supporting other colleagues.

At ABC, you will gain first-hand experience of our work in a multi-disciplinary, and often multi-lingual project team. Teams are composed based on the specific project needs.  We cover the full range of economic analysis across competition and regulatory work and consider it very important for your development to get a good exposure to the different competition and regulatory fields of work early on, before having the option to specialise for example in energy or pharmaceuticals.

Core tasks you will be dealing with include the application of state of the art economics and econometrics to real-world problems, data management and programming, drafting of expert reports and presentations, and client relationship management.

We are committed to delivering only the highest quality of economic analysis and advice and are therefore only looking for the best people to join our team and help us successfully overcome the challenges we face in our work. We promote personal development and encourage a cooperative environment to help individuals grow and master more and more complex and challenging tasks.

Attracting highly skilled and motivated future team members requires a stringent selection process, but also a clear and balanced development perspective combined with above-market compensation.

Internships/part time positions

We offer paid internships from 3 to 12 months to candidates who might be thinking about a career in our area of specialized economic consulting. We also offer part time positions for students who would like to be exposed to our line of work already during their studies.

Internships just as part time positions may lead to permanent positions.

If you are interested in ABC economics and want to work in a challenging and rewarding environment, we would be happy to hear from you.

What to do if you want to get in touch

If you like what you read and have what it takes, do not hesitate to submit an application by sending us your CV including a cover letter. If based on your application materials you pass the first round of selection, we will invite you for interviews and a series of short written tests.

During your visit we will test your ability to apply your knowledge as economist to the types of practical questions we face in our day-to-day work. We will also review your ability to express yourself clearly in writing and orally.

We are always on the lookout for exceptional candidates and  are not constrained by recruitment cycles or limit our hiring to specific open positions. This means that you can apply at any moment by sending us your CV and cover letter explaining your motivation to join ABC to vacancies@ABCecon.com. We look forward to hearing from you.
