Linn von Engelbrechten

Junior Analyst

Linn has over two years of experience in data handling, coding and econometric modelling. Her expertise includes causal inference methods such as difference-in-differences analysis. For example, she recently quantified the effects of social benefit cycles on the occurrence of fatal car crashes using a large public dataset with a difference-in-differences approach. In addition to her applied econometric work, she has a solid background in economic theory, in particular public economics.

Having studied Public Policy at the Hertie School in Berlin, Linn also has a solid understanding of public policy and legal reasoning. As part of her studies she participated in the Jessup, the largest international moot court competition in the world, inter alia winning the German rounds with her team. Moreover, Linn has over two years of experience working in and with the public sector. She worked at the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and a public sector consultancy PD in Berlin. She also interned with KPMG, and DIW, where she provided empirical research support regarding a project on statistical methods of estimating rent price indices.

Linn holds a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School in Berlin with a specialisation in policy analysis and a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Maastricht University including a stay at Singapore Management University.

As a native German speaker, she is also fluent in English and has a basic knowledge of Spanish.
